Poetry: For How Long?

FOR HOW LONG?
Deep in sin
You call it "Pleasure"
Under the the bondage of the devil
You refuse to believe this
But for how long would you continue to DIE  IGNORANTLY?

You don't study the scriptures
You say, "no time"
You hold your Bible in your hands
You say "going to church"
But for how long would you continue to HOLD your Bible while you're FAR from it?

Prayers means nothing to you
You say, "no need"
You struggle with your battles alone
You say, "no one cares"
But for how long would you continue to DISREGARD this WEAPON?

You study the scriptures
Yet you struggle with sin
You pray a lot
Yet you're chained by evil
But for how long would you continue in this BONDAGE?

You don't like him/her
You say, "she/he is evil"
You set a trap for him/her
You say, "she/he deserves it"
But for how long would you continue to PAY EVIL for EVIL?

You can't give Him your time
Yet you say, "I love God"
Sacrifice is a big problem for you
You say, "It's too much"
But for how long would you continue to DECEIVE yourself?

Aren't you tired of this "PLEASURE"?
Aren't you tired of PRETENCE?
Aren't you tired of DECEIT?
Aren't you tired of  BONDAGE?
But for how long will this continue?
Why don't you ask God for Grace?

Poetry || Amazing Love

AMAZING LOVE
What is man that you are mindful of me?
Even on the cross, He gave it up for me
How did I deserve it? He even asked nothing from me
What can this be? He said He loves me.

How can this be, does He even know me?
Ah! Son and friend He even calls me.
Oh, what am I that you even chose me?

What is this, do I even need Him?
Then, I was dying, He lifted me.

even in my disdain, He wont let me be.
While I hurt Him, He still loves me.
This is amazing, He remembered me,
Even When I was in need, He was still there for me.

I got myself into trouble, He didn't allow me to be ridiculed
Despite my ingratitude,
He still does exceedingly great things.
Just when I thought He has done it all, He did it more,
Just when I thought I was forgotten, He remembered me more.

I'm talking about God,
The Big G-O-D God,
The one with Amazing love,
It's the most perfect I've seen.

Poetry || Habits

HABITS
Something you do often
It's done almost without thinking
A usual behavior
An addiction
It sometimes defines you

It can be positive
It can be negative
It could be constructive
It could be destructive

There's no pretence
Cuz, you're not conscious of it
It's a license
To how far you'll go in life

It has raised people to heights
It has dropped some to depths
It has widened opportunities to few
It has narrowed privileges to many

It has earned achievements to people
It has fought the progress of some
It has won advancements to few
It has battled the success of many

The questions are
Where have you gone with it?
Where is it taking you to?
What has it done to you?
What will it do to you?
What are you doing about it?

Character

November 09, 2019 2
What brings the gain?
What causes the pain?
What makes people maintain you?
What makes them abstain from you?
Your Character

What moves you forward?
What moves you backward?
What brings reward?
What takes reward?
Your Character

What brings Obedience?
What brings diligence?
What makes them applaud your absence?
What makes them await your presence?
Your Character

What earns you respect?
What earns you disrespect?
What tags you a suspect?
What tags you a prospect?
Your Character

If your character needs a change then you really need to bring about the change.
Your Character affects your Charisma.

Poetry || Faith

FAITH

It feels like a lifetime
It seems like the wait isn't worth while
It may be better just taking a shortcut
It feels like I can't withstand for much longer
A mind awash with such thoughts
A being losing faith
But then,I'm a Christian
It's what I signed up for
Waiting is the order of the day
I am a believer,it's worth the wait
For losing faith,
Equals taking the wide path
While neglecting the narrow one
It equals thriving on the look before you leap mentality
When a leap with Christ
Even with your eyes closed
Equals a step in the right direction

Poetry || Forgiveness

Forgiveness

Submerged in pain
Awash in anguish
A life of frustration
A soul filled with bitterness
For you hold in such contempt
And refuse to forgive

For you view forgiveness
As a virtue for the weak
An act of mercy undeserved
That serves no useful need
So you continue to hold in contempt
A fellow being

You are then confined in this prison of hate
A prison of darkness
A prison filled with darkness
A prison built by you
Still holding in contempt
As a hate prospers

For forgiveness is not of the weak
For the Father in all His Might
Forgave us our transgressions
And in all His might
Continues to forgive
For love prospers
When a fault is forgiven

Guilty Is A Lie!

Guilty Is a lie.
Handcuffs, Shackles, Guilty, Sentence
You feel the urge
You hold back
Your world in a turmoil
You feel the shame
Can I be saved
Does my soul worth it?
But do not be fooled
For guilty is a lie

You feel the urge
You hold back
Your garment so black
You feel the shame
Can the Savior
Upon my defiled self look?
O, do not be fooled
For guilty is a lie

For upon the cross
He died for you
His blood He shed
To wash you clean
So shame hold you not
For guilty is a lie.

Poetry || Temptation: To Scratch or Not To!

February 21, 2019 0

Temptation -
The devil looking through the keyhole

Yes
An everyday battle

It's like having a cut
With the itchy sensation that accompanies it.
So intense is this sensation
So overwhelming is the urge
That it calls to us to scratch.

For scratching gives instant relief.

But did you not know,
That by scratching it gets worse?

Did you not know
That you could have
Dressed the cut from the onset
To reduce the itch?

Or did you not know
That a cold compress
Or something called an anti-itch cream could help defuse the urge to scratch And let you heal properly?

Did you think you were so strong
That you could withstand the urge
Alone or until it itched no more?

Well,I'm sorry to say this,
But this is a cut that never stops itching
Until you either scratch
-------give in and sin-----
Or until you defuse it with a balm
-------turn to God--------

Poetry || How?

January 24, 2019 0

HOW?
You yearn for His words
And he speaks
But how do you hear?
When you do not listen
When the booms and bangs
Of the world
Are the only sounds
That arouse your hearing

You yearn to see Him
And He's there
But how do you see?
When you are like a child
Intrigued by every shiny thing
And when it's not
You turn the other way

You yearn for His touch
And He does
But how do you feel it?
When you are like an onion bulb
Wrapped in layers
Of destructive emotions
With barricades of worldly thoughts

How?

For the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save,
Neither His hearing heavy, that it cannot hear,
But your iniquities have separated you and your God
(Isaiah 59:1-2)
